Search Methods

Joyful Life's search engine supports a number of different methods for performing searches:

Description Search

Simply describe the information that you want. For example, "Flash-a-Cards."

Question Search

Ask a question that you want answered. For example, "What are the distinctives of Joyful Life?"

Keyword Search

List important keywords relevant to your search topic. For example, "junior teacher guide."

Conditional Keyword Search

Refine a keyword search using conditional symbols.

Symbol	Meaning	Action
&	AND	Finds only documents containing all of the specific words or phrases. For example, "primary & teacher guide" finds documents with both the word "primary" and the words "teacher guide".
|	OR	Finds documents containing at least one of the specified words or phrases. For example, "primary | teacher guide" finds documents containing either "primary" or "teacher guide". The found documents could contain both words, but do not have to.
!	AND NOT	Excludes documents containing the specific word or phrase. For example, "primary ! teacher guide" finds documents containing "primary" but not containing "teacher guide". As with the & and | symbols, ! must appear between two terms.
